GERMAN CHAMOMILE ESSENTIAL OIL
Diluted with Jojoba Oil 5%
The ancient Greeks called this pretty, delicate herb kamai melon (“ground apple”) because of the apple-like scent of the daisy-like flowers and feathery leaves. Utilized primarily as a calming, tasty tea and soothing skin wash, German chamomile has a long-standing medicinal and cosmetic tradition, especially in Europe. As an herb, it is still used in many regions of the world to ease a variety of physical discomforts, especially inflammatory conditions. It’s an effective aid for relieving emotional tension, sleeplessness, tension headache, and indigestion.
German chamomile essential oil is a strong anti-inflammatory that soothes any condition exhibiting heat, including gout; strained muscles, tendons, or ligaments; and irritated, inflamed skin. Possessing remarkable antiallergenic properties, it is beneficial for those suffering from hives, dermatitis, poison plant rashes, eczema, and other skin reactions.
It is an effective treatment for menstrual cramps and PMS symptoms; in fact, its genus name, Matricaria, refers to its role as a gynecological herb. I primarily use it in preparations to treat muscle and joint inflammation, bruises, rashes, bug bites and stings, rosacea, acne, and other skin conditions in need of powerful healing action with a cooling, calming hand.
